At first I wasn’t quite sure if he would be convincing as someone Tuppence would enjoy being with, but by the end of the first episode, I knew he was perfect as Tommy. She makes us believe she is Tuppence, and we can see how Tuppence is a force to be reckoned with. Francesca Annis portrays Tuppence, and she’s terrific! Her portrayal brings a young exuberance to Tuppence. (No spoilers here-> so I won’t divulge too much!) The series takes place during the 1920s, which means that Tuppence is able to wear flapper-type attire, including beautiful hats and dresses. The series starts out with Tommy & Tuppence reuniting after WWI. If I were to pick just two words to describe this mystery series. I will admit to not being a fan of this series of Christie mystery novels but I love this television series. They are all based on Agatha Christie‘s Tommy & Tuppence mystery novels. There are eleven episodes that follow the private detective duo comprised of Tommy and Tuppence. It is a totally delightful series full of witty dialog, absolutely gorgeous and sumptuous wardrobe, and very good mysteries. This entry is about the original Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime: The Tommy & Tuppence Mysteries which was made in the 1980s. Tommy is shown to be more smart, cunning and resourceful here as he realises that he is walking to an obvious trap.Let me start this entry by telling you that I thought for sure I had already written about this terrific television series. Albert gets to act out his cowboy fantasies when he lassos a henchman.

An early clue is given when a young lady collapses and it not for being drunk. Tuppence has fun dancing the Charleston with the American Ambassador in a club. He realises that the Ambassador's kitbag will not go through a custom inspection. Tommy thinks that there was no accidental mix up. Later the Ambassador's valet commits suicide.

The Ambassador asks Tommy and Tuppence to look into it. The Ambassador's bag only contained his boots. He ended up leaving the ship with a similar bag with similar initials and only later the correct bag was delivered to him. The American Ambassador had a mixed up with his bag as he arrived to Britain on a ship.

The Ambassador's Boots is more like it and if only more episodes showed a similar verve and sleuthing. Partners in Crime has been an uneven series.
